Body & Soul Pilates in Gluckstadt, MS
Conveniently located on the west side of I-55 at the Gluckstadt exit, Body & Soul Pilates is a locally owned Pilates studio offering small group and private reformer Pilates sessions.
Our 50-minute, high energy classes offer a fun and challenging workout resulting in long lean muscles and a stronger core. With a maximum of 8 people per class, we provide an intimate setting allowing for an emphasis on correct form to promote increased strength.
This approach to fitness helps create body awareness and facilitates the mind-body connection for an effective full body workout.
Body & Soul Pilates is owned by Sherry Williams, PT. Sherry is a physical therapist with more than 20 years of experience in various settings. Her love for Pilates began in 2015 with her first Pilates reformer class and she has continued to learn and grow in her Pilates practice since that time.
Sherry became a Balanced Body Reformer instructor in 2020 and is currently pursuing Comprehensive Pilates Instructor training.
What is Pilates?
Invented by Joseph Pilates, a boxer and World War I soldier assigned to the nurse corps in the 1920s, the Pilates method is comprised of over 500 mind-body movements that develop strong, flexible muscles without adding bulk.
Pilates emphasizes breathing and core strength to ensure improved posture, reduce stress and decrease risk of injury.
At Body & Soul Pilates our classes are performed on the Pilates reformer, originally designed by Joseph Pilates. These machines use spring tension to provide resistance, allowing the body to fully engage each muscle as the exercise is performed.
These methods increase your strength, tone your body, decompress joints, improve flexibility and range of motion, boost circulation and stimulate your mind. The muscles of the body are developed lean and taut, thus resulting in a body that appears lean, long, and strong.
Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, Pilates can help you re-center, focus your energy, and concentrate on your wellness.
Who is Pilates for?
Pilates is ageless and genderless. Anyone can benefit from Pilates! With hundreds of exercises Pilates will push you farther than you ever thought your body could go!
How does the body benefit from Pilates?
Pilates is a mind-body exercise that is challenging yet gentle. This workout is ideal for all ages and skill levels, from the professional athlete to the post rehabilitation client. The reformer can be used to assist or resist the client depending on his/her physical condition and can be performed for a lifetime.
Pilates increases strength, flexibility, balance, and posture which tones the body without "bulking". Over time clients will develop a solid core, long/lean lines and a strong back allowing the body to move in a more efficient pattern of movement.
